Pray for our Church meeting next Sunday, when we will be electing new deacons to serve us as a church. Please pray for both Rory Macleod & Tia Baker who have been nominated to stand.

Local
Following on from the riots in Croydon last August continue to pray for those who had businesses destroyed as they try to rebuild them and for all those who lost their homes and possessions as they too rebuild their lives.

International
From Tearfund's Monthly Prayer Diary.

The turning point for Vania's church - situated in a red-light district in Rio de Janeiro was realising that although the church had existed for 86 years, it did nothing for the community. Now the church reaches out to prostitutes and raises awareness of people trafficking. "We've built a relationship," says Vania. "People realise we exist." Pray for Vania and her church as they meet the needs of their community.

- God has been teaching us so much over the past weeks as we meditate on His word; Pray that all that we learn individually and as a church will transform:
- Our individual lives
- Our church
- Our community
- Bring Healing- mind, body, and spirit; please pray particularly this week for one of our young members Hazel-Anne as she battles cancer and for her family.

Local

- Ask God to show us how we can be good news in the community around us; making use of every opportunity that presents itself to us to show His love.
- Pray for the churches of Croydon as they prepare for the winter homeless shelter; pray that the help they give would witness to people as they show love and compassion.

International
- As we enter a period when we remember those who have died in wars past and present, let us also remember those who have lost their lives recently due to natural disasters � floods, earthquakes, etc.
- Ask God to comfort those who mourn for their loved ones.
- Pray particularly for the people of Thailand as they battle to bring the floods in their country under control.

Continue to pray for our young people during these school holidays. Pray for their safety and well being.
Pray especially for those who are awaiting important exam results that they would not be stressed.

Pray for all those involved in the preparations for Reuben's Induction service in September.

Local

Please pray for Tearfund partners working within the UK offering hope to young people and other disenfranchised
groups in some of the urban areas hit by looting and destruction.
They include several partners in south London: Reachin� Higher who work with young people and
Action in Communities who assist asylum-seekers, refugees and families in need.
Please pray for all those involved in policing UK streets and preventing new outbreaks of violence.
Ask for safety and wisdom for the staff and volunteers of our UK partners living and working with affected communities.
Pray for leaders at local and national level as they restore order and tackle long-term challenges such as gang culture,
youth unemployment and poor parenting skills.

International
Lift up in prayer all people in Egyptian society who find themselves marginalised.
Pray that their faith may be respected - just as we in the West uphold religious freedom respecting people of other faiths.
Ask that Tearfund partners working with vulnerable sections of the population are able to resume their activities soon.

* Many of our church family will travelling away on holiday during the month of August; pray for their rejuvenation, and ask God for travelling mercies, and pray that they might feel welcomed whilst visiting other churches.
* Remember those who will not be going away for whom August can seem like a very long and lonely month.
* Continue to pray for the Deacons as they have a well earned break from meetings; and continue to pray for the preparation of Rueben�s Induction service.

Local

* Just recently a number of senseless stabbings of youths have occurred in the Croydon area; please keep the families and loved ones of the victims in your prayers.
* Pray for collaboration between the police and the churches in Croydon to provide comfort and healing to the victims' families.

International
* Horrific stories are emerging from the survivors of the Utoeya Island attack in Norway; ask God to send men and women to minister His healing to them and bring them peace.
* Continue to pray about the famine situation that is sweeping across the Horn of Africa; ask god to protect and sustain those that are trying to reach them with supplies and help.

Give thanks for Gods guidance and leading of our church during this time of interregnum; pray that he would continue to help the leaders of every group to do His work at WCBC.
Pray also for those that are attending new believer's classes that they may grow in relationship with our dear Lord; pray for those leading those sessions on a Saturday morning also.

Local

Please pray about the future of the local London City Mission (LCM) in Cromwell Road. At present there is no missionary. Pray for the right person to be appointed to serve in this estate and for forthcoming interviews to be successful.
Continue to pray for Steve Downe, who was formerly at the Cromwell Road Estate, he is now working as LCM Chaplain in Southern Railways.

International
Christian Aid Week has just passed but please continue to pray outside of this week for this organisation:
Give thanks for all who are standing alongside some of the poorest communities in the world, and working to bring life and hope.
Give thanks for campaigners and all who speak out for those who have no voice.

Look through your church directory this week and pray for the people round about your name, if you don�t know someone then try and find out who they are next time you are in church.

Continue to pray for Reuben and family as they prepare for the move back to the UK and to Croydon.

Local

Pray for our council and the leaders as they have difficult decisions to make over cuts to spending.

Pray also for our emergency services who serve us in this community, in all the difficult situations they mayfind themselves in.

International

"Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies."
(Psalm 8:2)
Pray for the work of a children's group in Afghanistan, run by a Tearfund partner, that teaches 7- to 12-year-olds key values as they have fun playing catch and learning to draw. One girl described her picture of a child in school as "a girl�s right to go to school," while another explained her picture showed that "parents must not beat their children".

Pray for those among us who are unwell and going through various treatments and for those awaiting operations. Pray that the Lord will ease their pain and heal them.
Pray for the work on the kitchen - pray that it will be successfully completed and thank the Lord for the money that has been given for this essential work to happen.

Local

Pray for the victims and their families of recent gun and knife crime. Pray that the Lord will be with them during this difficult time.
Pray for local communities and the wall of silence that protects those who commit these violent crimes. Pray for an end to these acts of sometimes random and senseless violence that causes so much devastation and pain.

International

Continue to pray for the unrest in Libya, Yemen, Bahrain and Ivory Coast. Pray for those who have been caught up in the crossfire and for those who have had to leave their homes and countries. Pray for the Lord to intervene, to raise up His people to call upon His name for peace and an end to the violence.
Pray for the recent news on the death of Osama Bin Laden that this will not stir up radical groups to increase their plans of terror.

Give thanks for all our deacons as they serve the church in this way. For some this may be a new experience, so pray for them as they take on different roles within the church.
Pray for those in our church who are experiencing health problems at the moment, that they will feel God's healing power on them and peace at this time.

Local

As our young people go out into Central Croydon on Maundy Thursday to give out Easter Eggs, pray for all those they meet that they may have some good conversations with the people of Croydon.
Pray also for the Christian witness this Easter in Croydon by all the churches in the area.

International

Guialahinon is speaking as a victim of the humanitarian crisis gripping the West African state of Ivory Coast. She is one of a million people there to be uprooted by violence, causing her to flee from her settled life running a cocoa farm.
Please pray for a peaceful and quick resolution to the violence and for lasting peace.
Pray for a generous response to the massive humanitarian needs as a result of the conflict.
Pray for no reprisals from supporters on either side.
Lift up to the Lord the work of Tearfund partners as they bring material and spiritual hope to people in dire need, in the face of shifting security conditions.

Thank the Lord for the continuation of the work at West Croydon. Pray that the Lord will continue to show His love and power among us.

Pray for Pastor Reuben and his family as their stay in France has been extended till September. The Lord's timing is perfect and we trust in Him that the arrival of Pastor Reuben and his family will be blessed and anointed by Him.

Local

Pray for local agencies and services as many face funding cuts. Pray for those who face unemployment because of the cuts that the Lord will direct them towards alternative employment.

Pray for those employed in the public sector who are facing not only job cuts but freezes in salary. Pray that government ideas about the creation of jobs in the private sector will be a reality and not a false hope.

International

Continue to pray for the work of international agencies and local people within communities that have been affected by disaster and unrest - New Zealand, Australia, Japan,Libya, Tunisia and Bahrain. The Lord is still working, still moving and challenging His people to call upon His name. Pray for continued strength and perseverance.

You may not know who they are, but pray for those on the fringes of our fellowship- that they will be able to enter in more fully and that we may all grow together.

Local

Pray for the witness of Croydon�s churches to their local communities.
Give thanks for the contacts that have been made with those living on the Whitehorse Road estate and pray that they will be developed further.

International

Pray for wisdom for world leaders as they seek to make the response to the situation in Libya.
Pray for the same world leaders as they deal with economic difficulties and political unrest in other countries.
