A new year, new service times. From 8 Jan 2012 our second service will start at at 11am. The first service will continue to start at 9:15am.

We encourage our worshippers to have a day of prayer and fasting for our service on 26th June that we may see God's power manifest as we conclude our series on prayer and fasting with a healing/needs service.
In obedience to the Lords leading we will also have a night vigil of praise, prayers and encouragement in sanctuary that evening. Doors will open at 10.30 pm. and we hope close around 5am but people can leave earlier.
Let's come together to seek the face of our God for our church and the breaking of yokes in people's lives.

Car Parking Changes

You may have read that Croydon Council are proposing to make significant changes to the parking restrictions in the Controlled Parking Zones, which includes the area around the church. In addition to the significantly increased charges that will apply restrictions on meters and single yellow lines will be changed from 9am-5pm six days a week to 8am -12pm seven days a week.

While we have access to the car park at the rear of the island on Sundays this is not large enough for everyone. The restriction on parking will severely impact those using the premise on Sundays as well as evenings through the rest of the week.

We would encourage all our community to exercise their democratic right and lodge a protest. There are three ways you can do this:

You can submit your own protest to the Parking Department via email to the council at parking.design@croydon.gov.uk. The wording below may help you in what to say.

The Closing date for any protests is Fri 4 Feb

The leaders would encourage all to participate in this protest as well as to pray. We believe the power of prayer is mighty in these situations.
Remember husbands and wives can both submit a protest. Please also encourage your family members who have links with the church to support this as well as community projects that use our premises.
If you are impacted where you live, and you will see the notice on lamp posts in your street, don�t forget to submit a protest for you street and encourage your neighbours to do likewise.

Suggested wording:

As part of the worshiping community at West Croydon Baptist Church, and on behalf of the community projects that use our premises, we object to the proposed increased hours of operation of the Controlled Parking Zones around central Croydon from the present Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm to 8am to midnight every day.
We have limited off street parking available and those using our premises on Sundays and weeknights will have greater difficulty accessing the church because of these proposed restrictions.
We also believe that the proposed increase in parking charges contained in the proposal is not justified. Neither is the increased charges resulting from the extension of hours.
We wish to associate ourselves with the local residents and businesses who will also be impacted by these changes and share their concern at the impact of the proposals.
We also share concern with other faith communities similarly impacted by these changes.
We believe these changes to be out of line with Government policy- who have urged councils to reduce parking charges.
We note that the publicity for these proposals has been seriously limited with little time for proper consultation and formal objections.
We believe there is no justification for the increased hours or the level of increase in charges proposed and call upon the Council to reconsider these plans.
